I'm a french guy living in notting hill near portobello road. And i need your help :)

je suis à londres depuis le 1er juillet et ce pour au moins 3 mois (mais j'espère bien plus)

En fait, j'espère y trouver du travail. Je cible entre autre les magasins d'info.

J'ai bien trouvé PC World (un surcouf-like) et de minuscules echopes mais rien de ressemblant à notre montgaller national

pourtant je sais qu'il y a un quartier qui ressemble.

Quelqu'un connait? au moins le coin ou l'arrondissement... après je trouverai

Yes Oxford St is mostly for clothes. I only know of one computer shop on Oxford St named Dixons (it's a nationwide company) near the Tottenham Court Rd tube station, but this is probably not what you are looking for.

You might want to try Tottenham Court Rd or Edgware Rd.

Hello, i'm just here to tell you that i have english origins too!! I'm very happy to see that kind of topic in here ... i'm a quarter english because my grandpa is completely english. He is from westham, a nice suburb of London !!

anyway, i'll be happy to come back here and speak with all of you in english, because i have to improve some !! (btw, i don't speak fluently english 'cause my dad and I always talked in french !!)

It's good, i think. just the "I'd" , perhaps it will be better write with all letters.

By this way, I have took about my stay in G.B. et now , i am back. Then, in few words, my impression :

Brits are stranges. I think, they just know now that there are another world over the sea! They begin to use meter system, improve quality of food, don't drink any more, . . . Perhaps they will be a civilisation

For me, it could be the better experience of my short life : Now, i know what i know and i could guess what i need to improve. Many grammar points are fixed. I don't increase really words of vocabulary ( but i remeber some idioms ), but now, i think, i can improve my level, by myself, with TV series, BBC, movies, . . .

And that just in 3 weeks in Brighton, ( whit many Frenchs and french speakers ) In the end, il would stay with them. But now, i am very happy to come back in France.

Je voulais juste dire que que les contractions, ca sert surtout a l'oral ou sur une discution écrite. A l'écrit "serieux", vaut mieux eviter. ( mais j'avais pas les mots qui fallait in English )
