pour l'essentiel geforce 8800 driver nvidia proprio fourni dans la distrib bi écran tous les 2 en 1280 1024 85 htz

en mono écran aucun souci. j'ai modifier les configd de compiz fusion et ça fonctionné pas mal.

activation du bi écran OK

pas de xinerama donc 2 écran séparé avec 2 xorg.

Voila mes 2 soucis

Sur le premier écran compiz fusion marche impeccable. ( aucun problème graphique )

par contre l'affichage des menus est super lent : du style je clike sur applications et le menu met 5 seconde a apparaitre.

sur le deuxième écran, je n'ai pas ce problème de rapidité dasn les menus... super fluide comme au premier jour!!!!

par contre, tous les tours des fenêtres a disparu!!!

une idée des causes et comment résoudre les problèmes ???

ou trouver un fichier de config de compiz d'origine ???? car j'ai bidouillé de partout et peut être qu'en remettant le truc d'origine...

help!!!!

I had the same problem. I'm running xfce so I've had to tweak around a lot more than just following instructions. Just to be clear, I'm running two displays and not using TwinView or anything else. In my xorg.conf I have two graphics cards specified (although it is only one physical nvidia 8600 GT card) and two screens specified.

I don't have compiz or emerald running automatically so after logging in (I use gdm) and starting xfce I fire up a terminal on the first display and put:

compiz --sm-disable --only-current-screen &

Then if I lose my window borders and the title bar disappears I manually start emerald by typing:

emerald --replace &

Then I repeat the process for the second screen. That seems to actually start two distinct copies of each app. I don't know if they are aware of each other. If I type the compiz part without --only-current-screen then it starts one copy of compiz which handles both screens and the first screen lags pretty bad when popping up menus, oddly other things such as moving windows works at full speed. I'd probably call this an actual bug.

I have also had success prepending the desired display variables of ":0.0" for my left display and ":0.1" for my right. Ex (using bash):

DISPLAY=":0.0" compiz --sm-disable --only-current-screen

etc.

Doing this seems to make it work seamlessly except the obvious break in the screens. I've tried putting the startup stuff into a script that runs when xfce starts (xfce has an "autostart applications" section on the menu under settings) but I'm not yet satisfied with my results.

Please tell me if you know of a better way and if you know how to enable dragging windows between the actual screens!

en fait il faut lancer 2 compiz au lieu d'un .....

Sur ubuntu-fr.org, il parle du bug du contour de fenetre, de la lenteur avec compiz tout ca... cherche dans leur doc sur compiz, il faut ajouter des options genre AddargBLXblabla et TripleVideoBuffer a ton xorg.conf

Je pense que la config avec 2 écrans séparés non-twinview non-xinerama est un problème bien spécifique.

J'avais également eu ce problème (et j'en avais conclu à l'époque que compiz n'était pas prêt pour le multi screen).

Depuis je suis repassé à une config avec du twinview (configuration différente), et là ça tourne mieux (mais je n'utilise pas compiz pour autant haha)

je pense aussi que ça compiz ça marche... il faut que je teste .... mais bon une fois qu'on a gouté ... dur de s'en passer.
